Barbara Sebastian

Barbara Sebastian was born in San Diego, California. After attending the University of California, Berkeley, in the 60s, majoring in Mathematics and Physical Education, she became a High School teacher for 9 years and coached girls gymnastics.

In 1975, Barbara gave it all up to become a full-time artist working in clay and eventually returned to school to obtain a Masters degree in Plastic Arts (Sculpture).

Her smaller porcelain works (covered jars and fetish jars) are inspired by immediate physical and spiritual environment. They are meant as "precious" objects that can be held in the hand, and can be used on many levels.

Currently, her ceramic work is in collections throughout the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia. She creates small ceramic jars, architectural scale clay wallworks, and painted abstract murals for interior corporate environments.
